HarborWalk Website Debuts

The Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) and The Boston Harbor Association (TBHA) has finally unveiled a new web site for the City of Boston's Harborwalk at www.bostonharborwalk.com. Harborwalk is the City's public walkway system, connecting Boston's neighborhoods to its Harbor. It leads people to recreational, cultural and historic attractions and has direct connections to public transit including the city’s many water transportation facilities. The Menino Administration has made public access to the waterfront a centerpiece of its harbor agenda.
The new web site provides residents and visitors alike with a direct link to a variety of information, including numerous places to go and things to do along the more than 31 miles of completed Harborwalk.
"The BRA has long been committed to providing public access to Boston's waterfront," said Mark Maloney, Director of the Boston Redevelopment Authority.
"We're thrilled to be able to help increase public access to the waterfront, and to make information about Harborwalk available to the public, both leading up to and following the Democratic National Convention," said Vivien Li, Executive Director of The Boston Harbor Association.
In May 2004, the BRA committed $30,000 to developing this comprehensive web-based resource on Boston's Harborwalk. The BRA matched TBHA's $30,000 grant from The Boston Foundation. The web site will provide accurate and up-to-date information about the many points of interest along Harborwalk from open spaces to water transportation terminals to cultural facilities.
"The Boston Foundation strongly supports the launch of the web site to promote Boston's Harborwalk, the latest effort by the BRA and TBHA's extraordinary work to promote a clean, alive and accessible Boston Harbor," said Paul S. Grogan, President and CEO of the Boston Foundation.
"This web site will contain information for the public, including maps of the Walk, site descriptions, transportation information, and resources for enhancing neighborhood advocacy for the project. The Harbor Association's commitment to developing balanced solutions for environmental protection, public access, and maritime uses will continue to benefit our community for decades to come."
